Speaker Turzai Hosts Event for Corbin

Pennsylvania House of Representatives Speaker Mike Turzai hosted an event on June 13th for Representative Becky Corbin.  This event kicked off the Team Corbin campaign to keep common sense in Harrisburg.

Speaker Turzai spoke of the tremendous respect that our Representative has in Harrisburg, her impressive record of accomplishments, and her ability to work across the aisle to produce real results for the people in her district and across Pennsylvania.  Some of Corbin’s accomplishments include Act 3 of 2014, which modernized breast cancer treatment, Act 111 of 2016, which closed a loophole in state law that allowed some domestic abusers to escape prosecution, and getting 24 permanent medication drop off boxes installed in the county to combat the opioid epidemic.

Letter to the Editor: Embracing Our Neighbors

Dear Editor:

Chester County’s strong economy, excellent schools, and generous hospitality have attracted a growing
number of immigrants from India. Today, vibrant Indian communities can be found countywide,
including places like East Brandywine, Uwchlan and Upper Uwchlan townships. In several municipalities,
persons of Indian descent – both immigrant and American-born – now comprise the largest ethnic
minority. We welcome them as friends, neighbors, and business associates.

To further extend our embrace of those who are so richly contributing to the growth and diversity of our
region, I’m writing to urge all school districts in Chester County to establish Diwali as an in-service day
for teachers. The Unionville-Chadds Ford and Great Valley districts have already taken this step.

Diwali, the “Festival of Lights,” symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness in all areas of life. The
holiday emphasizes the importance of self-growth, happiness, and doing what is right. I had the privilege
of celebrating this joyous holiday for the first time shortly after I took office in 2013, when I was invited
to a Diwali event at the Lionville YMCA.

Since that first introduction, I have been honored to support the annual Diwali Food Drive, which has
collected over 160,000 pounds of food for the Chester County Food Bank and several other food banks
serving the county. In addition to Diwali service projects, celebrations like last year’s Diwali Mela in
Hickory Park have opened the holiday to everyone, greatly enhancing our county’s heritage and culture.

Establishing Diwali as an in-service day will allow greater numbers of people to share in the holiday and
demonstrate Chester County’s commitment to welcoming people from around the world.

Becky Corbin, State Representative
155th Legislative District

Chester County’s oldest organ is in the Zion Lutheran Church

On Sunday, February 4, 2018, I joined the Zion Lutheran Church of Spring City to celebrate their 275th year  as a congregation.  Before the celebration, I was pleased to learn that the church is home to Chester County’s oldest organ, built by David Tannenberg.  Reverend Paul Townsend graciously invited me to try my hand at playing the organ.

It was an honor to commemorate the church’s 275th anniversary and to be given the pleasure of playing this unique piece of Chester County’s history.  I wish the Zion Lutheran Church of Spring City much continued success as a congregation over the next 275 years.

Honored to receive the endorsement of the RCCC

Tonight, I was honored to receive the endorsement of the Republican Committee of Chester County. I received their endorsement because of my hard work in the district and in Harrisburg.

Since taking office, I have been a champion for protecting our friends and families. I have authored legislation to improve women’s health, Act 3 of 2014, to protect victims of domestic violence, Act 111 of 2016, and to extend protections to individuals with mental or physical disabilities, House Bill 1528 of 2017-18. Besides these legislative accomplishments, I continue to work to prevent drug abuse with the installation of drug take back boxes throughout Chester County.

Tonight’s endorsement is one of the first steps to securing a fourth term in Harrisburg to continue to work for you.

If you would like to help in my re-election efforts, please consider signing up to volunteer here.

Petition Circulator Volunteers Needed

It's that time of the year again and I am asking for your help and support as I seek re-election this year. The first step to victory in November is a strong ground game early in the year.

My plan is to continue to serve the residents of the 155th Legislative District with the common sense, reasonable approach to legislating that delivers meaningful results. This requires me to hit the streets, starting February 13th, to collect the necessary signatures so that my name will appear on the ballot this spring.

Would you be willing to ensure that I am able to continue working for you by helping me collect signatures in your neighborhood between February 13th and March 1st?

Please sign up on my volunteer page and I will send you a petition and an instruction sheet which contains specific information regarding obtaining nominating petition signatures.

I sincerely appreciate your support and I am confident that together we will ensure another victory in November.

Welcome

Welcome to my campaign website.  I have been honored to serve as your State Representative since 2013 and I am looking for your support and trust to continue to provide leadership in Harrisburg.

Since I first took office, I have authored legislation to improve women's health, Act 3 of 2014, to protect victims of domestic violence, Act 111 of 2016, and to extend protections to individuals with mental or physical disabilities, House Bill 1528 of 2017-18.  Besides these legislative accomplishments, I continue to work to prevent drug abuse with the installation of 24 drug take back boxes throughout Chester County.

While I am proud of my work in Harrisburg and back in the district, there is still work that needs to be done.
